In 1996, the former head of the Rossignol Racing team, Aldo Kuonen, founded the Swiss company AK with a clear vision: to combine technological perfection with pure passion for skiing. His goal was to create a common bond among enthusiastic skiers worldwide through products where quality always dominates over quantity. With a limited production of only about 2,000 pairs per year and distribution exclusively through selected dealers, AK remains a symbol of exclusivity. Each ski is handcrafted in Switzerland with special attention to detail, a vertically laminated wood core, a sandwich Titanal construction, and the patented Elastak top surface layer.

The AK Orange Original model is the embodiment of the uncompromising giant slalom spirit, over which the skier will never lose control. These premium skis are engineered for precise handling and long carving turns on groomed terrain, maintaining absolute stability even when charging at high speeds. Their unique character lies in the combination of race-bred power and a precisely balanced flex for easier handling. This allows the skier to direct their movement with absolute ease and intuition. Elastak shock absorbing system – A specially developed rubber-based material that absorbs vibrations, makes the skis exceptionally stable, and significantly reduces joint fatigue during extended sessions on the slopes.

Sandwich construction – A specialized method of bonding layers under pressure, combining premium materials such as selected wood, titanal, fiberglass, and carbon fibers. This approach allows precise calibration of stiffness in different zones of the ski to achieve the optimal flex tailored to this giant slalom model.

Woodcore – The core of the ski is manufactured in Switzerland from vertically laminated wood stringers. Unlike mass-produced foam cores, this sandwich core possesses dynamic mechanical properties, high durability, and provides the signature edge grip throughout the turn.

Titan – A high-tech aluminum alloy with a titanium additive that provides the skis with excellent torsional resistance and stability at high speeds. The material ensures powerful energy transfer to the edges and effective shock absorption over uneven terrain.

Carbon – An exceptionally light and strong carbon fiber composite material that increases the dynamics and agility of the skis without adding unnecessary weight. The carbon layers provide quicker rebound after a turn and more explosive acceleration.

Fiberglass – Fine glass filaments in a laminate form that bind the individual components within the construction and provide optimal longitudinal flex. This material adds extra strength and ensures predictable and balanced ski behavior.

Polyethylene – A high-grade plastic material with an ultra-high molecular weight, featuring exceptional wear resistance and a low coefficient of friction. It guarantees that the internal structure of the ski will withstand high mechanical stress and extreme temperature changes.

P-Tex surface – A specialized top sheet and base material that absorbs wax exceptionally well, ensuring maximum speed and a smooth glide in all snow conditions. The surface features increased protection against scratching and rock damage.
